Open MRI
We offer the 1.5 T MRI, which is often called a short-bore or open MRI, and offers high precision scanning for diagnosis. The system features an opening nearly 2.3 feet in diameter and provides almost one foot of free space between a patient's head and the magnet.
How You Benefit
Open MRI allows for more than 60 percent of all exams to be completed with the patient's head outside the opening. This design makes it easier for patients with claustrophobia and those weighing 350-550 pounds to have an MRI, while providing physicians with sharper, more detailed images.
3T MRI
HCA Virginia was the first in Richmond to introduce 3T MRI technology, which enables high resolution imaging of large areas such as the abdomen, heart, spine, major joints and the whole body.

Scanning time is much quicker and the need for retakes is reduced due to the higher resolution image. The scanning flexibility, speed, precision, image resolution and quality of this technology allow physicians to diagnose disease earlier and with greater accuracy.
