Our outpatient sleep studies are performed in a private, relaxed setting in rooms that are comfortable and home-like. You'll find a full-size bed, television and private bathroom with shower.
You'll be asked to arrive for your sleep study around your typical bedtime and to follow your normal bedtime routine. Bring toiletries, necessary medications and anything that helps you sleep comfortably, like a favorite pillow.
Before you fall asleep, our polysomnographic technician will connect electrodes and sensors to your head, chest and legs to gather information during your all-night sleep test, called a polysomnogram.
While You Sleep
Our sleep technicians will observe your electrode and sensor readings in an adjacent room, where you'll be monitored by video as you sleep.
In some cases, the polysomnogram will indicate that you may benefit from Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP). If so, the technician may awaken you and start a CPAP treatment, placing a mask over your nose during sleep, which gently forces air into the nasal passages to improve your breathing.
After Your Sleep Study
You'll be ready to leave the sleep center around 7:30 a.m. A sleep center physician will review and analyze your sleep study and forward a report and personalized treatment plan to your primary care physician. Your physician will then contact you to discuss your sleep study findings and treatment options.
